Waugh v Thatcher Round 2

Posted on: January 5th, 2012 by Trevor | 1 Comment

Ed Waugh will be appearing on the BBC1 show The Big Questions on Sunday, January 9th at 10am.

He will be on a panel debating Margaret Thatcher’s contribution to society, chaired by Nicky Campbell.

As the co-author of Maggie’s End, which began with the death of the former Prime Minister, Ed has some fairly firm views on her ‘contribution’ which should make for combustible viewing – especially if he is sitting next to the inevitable Tory apologist. Sparks will undoubtedly fly.

Obviously the debate has been sparked by the opening of the new film The Iron Lady in which the milk snatcher and pit closer is portrayed by Meryl Streep.

The really big question is: Will Ed reveal his lifelong crush on Meryl Streep? (which was admittedly damaged by Mamma Mia)

Round 3 of Waugh v Thatcher will take place when Ed reviews The Iron Lady for the Shields Gazette which we will post here as soon as it’s done.

    Hi Ed
Just playing with my new I-Pad – Christmas present to myself – while on a short break in Spain, when I caught your contribution to Radio 5 Live today. I was looking for an update on the Leveson enquiry – something of obsession since I took early retirement/redundancy last September. I don’t miss the work – it was going downhill anyway and TIC condemned, but I miss the people, such as yourself. Hope we can catch up sometime, maybe even at the Gala, though it’s not the same without Simon.

Was looking forward to Maggie film on my return next week. But maybe now won’t bother!…

    All the best
